[post_content] => The Franklin Youth Hockey Association (FYHA) of Franklin, MA is a volunteer organization of parents and staff which helps administer and guide the youth hockey program in Franklin, MA.
The FYHA operates a Learn to Skate program and a Learn to Play Hockey program while also overseeing the competitive Team Youth Play League. Much of the activities sponsored by the FYHA take place in the Staff Sgt. Robert Pirelli Veterans Memorial Rink in Franklin, Massachusetts.
Here's an overview of the programs maintained by the Franklin Youth Hockey Association of Franklin, MA:
1. Learn to Skate
The FYHA’s Learn to Skate classes are held in Franklin and are divided into three skill groups: beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Children move up to the next skill level when ready as determined by the program instructors.
2. Learn to Play
The Franklin Youth Hockey Association’s Learn to Play Hockey program teaches youngsters skating skills from the hockey perspective. Designed to foster fun and enjoyment of the game, the program’s focus is on the rudiments of hockey and stick-handling. Sessions are held in the rink located in Town of Norfolk (very close to Franklin).
3. Youth Team Play League
The FYHA’s Youth Team Play League sponsors youth teams called The Franklin Flyers. The Franklin Youth Hockey Association is highly sensitive to the need for young players to have fun and enjoy what they are doing on the ice. While games are competitive, parental/coach pressure on players to perform and for teams to win is heavily discouraged.
Play is organized into age divisions according to birth date. See the FYHA site for current age brackets.
