Youth Basketball in Franklin, MA

The Youth Basketball program in Franklin, MA has been administered by the Franklin Recreation Department for decades.  The program serves over 1400 children annually and is affiliated with the Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA national program.

For more advanced, serious young basketball athletes in Franklin, there’s the Metro Basketball Program for grades 4 through 8.

 The program aims to match players of similar skill sets, equalizing playing time for all participants.  Focus is on teaching the fundamentals and enjoyment of the game of basketball.  Every effort is made to create teams comprised of friends and in Franklin, MA public school districts.  It’s a great way to build your child’s basketball skills and foster stronger school social ties as well.

Players are organized by both age and gender. There are a total of 9 divisions: 4 for boys, 4 for girls and the 9th is comprised of both male and female kindergarteners.  The 4 age groups maintained for each gender are as follows: 1st & 2nd grade, 3rd & 4th grade, 5th & 6th grade, and 7th & 8th grade.

The Franklin, MA Recreation Department also operates an intramural Town of Franklin basketball program for children in grades 9-12 who are not members of a school basketball team.
