Some consider the Dacey Playground the best playground in Franklin. The Dacey Community Fields on Lincoln Street in Franklin, MA were opened in 2007.

This large open space area offers a multi-purpose sports field suitable for soccer, football, and lacrosse, 2 smaller fields for youth soccer, a youth baseball field, and a youth softball field. The parking lot is huge and there are paved walkways bordered with soft grassy ground that make good spots for young children to practice their bike riding, skating and scooter skills.

The Dacey playground was built to the serve children with special needs as well as the general population of youngsters in the 5-12 year old range. The playground reportedly is the largest ADA compliant play area in Massachusetts.

There is a handicap van parking area and a handicap-accessible walkway to the ramp of the playground.

Fletcher Field Recreation Area, Franklin, MA

The Fletcher Field Recreation Area on Peck Street in Franklin, MA is home to a number of ball fields, tennis courts and a playground.

Franklin Youth Baseball plays games here.

The playground was renovated in 2004 to accommodate the play needs of children aged 2 to12 years old. The playground pleases such a wide age range by having two separate play areas (one for age 2 – 5 and the other for age 5 – 12).

The area for older children has a large play tower structure with several slides, a rope climb, and a rock climbing wall along with an adjacent log roll.

Nason Street Tot Lot, Franklin, MA

Recently renamed the Henry Faenza Tot Lot, this playground for the very young is located on Nason Street in Franklin, MA.

This playground is a wonderful resource for the 2-5 years old set and their parents. It was extensively upgraded in 2003 and features a play structure, lots of swings and some on-ground specialty items including a block climber, a very low balance beam and 2 spring-mounted riding animals.

There a pleasantly shaded sand box and plenty of plastic toys available for use while you’re at the lot. Lots of nice childhood memories to be created here!

King Street Memorial Playground, Franklin, MA

The King Street Memorial Park is located off of King Street near the intersection with Forest Street in Franklin, MA.

The park has an extensive array of ball fields and a baseball skills area. There is even a large concession facility. Baseball and soccer predominate but the fields have even seen use by area cricket leagues.

The King Street Playground at the Memorial Park in Franklin, MA was revamped in 2005 and features two play structures and a glide board, the latter representing a challenge to at least one parent I know well (me).

The larger play structure serves 5-12 year olds and the smaller one is for 2-5 year olds. The structure for older children sports two rock walls, two cork screw slides, an arched bridge, and several overhead apparatuses. This playground has a small picnic area.

Beaver Pond Recreation Area, Franklin, MA

The Beaver Pond Recreation Area is located on Beaver Street in Franklin, MA adjacent to Beaver Pond. This recreation area has four components:

1. Chilson Beach at Beaver Pond

A sandy town-owned beach is the site of summer swimming in Franklin, MA. Swimming lessons are offered there by the Franklin Recreation Department.

2. Beaver Pond

There is boat dock for this recreational pond on Beaver Street in Franklin, MA. You can see ice fishing during winter months. There is a pleasant walking trail that goes along one side of the pond.

3. Vendetti Playground

The playground at Beaver Pond is a tot lot for ages 2-5 and features 3 spring-mounted riding animals, a suspended bridge and slides.

4. Synthetic Ball Field

The synthetic surface ball field is adjacent to Beaver Street in Franklin, MA. This field gets a lot of action: you’ll see frequent soccer and lacrosse training and games at this location.

Pisani Field off of Peck Street in Franklin, MA is a small baseball field.

It used to be called Theron Metcalf Field.

The Franklin Girls’ Softball Association uses Pisani Field for their games.
