New artificial turf field at Beaver Pond Recreation Area

A beautiful new artificial turf field has been installed at the Beaver Pond Recreation Area in Franklin, MA.

After some installation delays, the field went into service during the middle of September. Here’s how the field looked during a recent evening of Youth Flag Football, sponsored by the Franklin Recreation Department:

The lines aren’t just sprayed on, they consist of colored fibers embedded in the base of the field.

The Dacey Community Field is located off of Lincoln Street in Franklin, Massachusetts.

Set on over 115 acres, Dacey Fields are a lot more than just ball fields!

Walking trails

There are extensive walking trails that wind though a mix of woods and cleared area.

Fletcher Field

The Fletcher Field recreation area is located at 45 Peck Street in Franklin, MA.

Fletcher Field uses its thirteen acre site to the maximum: the compact recreation area is home to three baseball fields, batting areas, soccer fields, basketball courts and a playground for children.

Nason Street Tot Lot

The Nason Street Tot Lot occupies one-half an acre of land on Nason Street in Franklin, MA. It’s a wonderful playground for the very young.

This playground is a wonderful resource for the two-to-five-years-old set and their parents. It’s where first, fleeting interactions between kids unfold. The playground features a play structure, lots of swings and some on-ground specialty items including a block climber, a very low balance beam and 2 spring-mounted riding animals.

There’s a pleasantly shaded sand box and plenty of plastic toys available for use while you’re at the lot. Lots of nice childhood memories to be created here!

Former school?

A plan of land from 1874 shows the lot as being a “School House Lot”, so perhaps there was a school on the site at some point in Franklin,s past.

King Street Memorial Park

The King Street Memorial Park is located at 740 King Street near the intersection with Forest Street in Franklin, MA.

The park sits on twenty-five acres of land. Its amenities includes a series of ball fields, a basketball court, a children’s playground and a baseball skills area. There is also a large concession facility. Baseball and soccer predominate but the fields have seen use by area cricket leagues.

Beaver Pond Recreation Area

The Beaver Pond Recreation Area is located on Beaver Street in Franklin, MA adjacent to Beaver Pond. You can enjoy a range of recreational actives here!

Swimming at Chilson Beach

A sandy town-owned beach is the site of summer swimming in Franklin, MA. Swimming lessons are offered there by the Franklin Recreation Department. There are restrooms on site.

Fishing and boating at Beaver Pond

There is boat launch (shown above) for this recreational pond. Anglers use their boats for fishing. There is also ice fishing during winter months.

There is a pleasant walking trail that goes along one side of the pond, which provides some good spots for fishing along the shore.

Vendetti Playground

The Vendetti Playground is a tot lot for ages 2-5.

Synthetic turf field

The synthetic surface ball field is adjacent to Beaver Street in Franklin, MA. This field gets a lot of action: you’ll see frequent soccer and lacrosse training as well as NFL Flag Football games at this location.

Pisani Field

Pisani Field is located on Peck Street near the corner of Winter Street in Franklin, MA. Sited on just over 3.5 acres, the recreation area contains two baseball fields.

This recreation area used to be called Theron Metcalf Field. The land sits behind what used to be Theron Metcalf School. (The former school building was converted into apartment units owned by the Franklin Housing Authority.)

The Franklin Girls’ Softball Association uses Pisani Field for their games.

Meadowlark Field

Public school ball fields and playgrounds

In addition to the designated public ball fields and playgrounds in Franklin, there are additional fields and playgrounds on the campuses of the various public schools in town. Use of these fields and playgrounds by the public after school hours and during school vacation may be permitted, depending on other scheduled events.
